About Us
Sound Structures, Inc. installs quality cementitious floor underlayments and sound mats on new construction as well as renovation projects over wood, concrete, and over old finished floors. The company was created in 1981 by two brothers, Steve and Rex Jones. We have installed over 100 million square feet of cementitious underlayments.
A Glance at Our Team

Stephen R. Jones, the President, graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering in 1969. Rex Jones, the Vice President of Field Operations, graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1970. Together, Rex and Steve created Sound Structures in 1981.
Eric Jones, the Vice President of Sales graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics in 1999. He has been employed with Sound Structures, Inc. since 1999.
Greg Jones (Project Manager) had been a part of Sound Structures team since 1998.
Billy Fones (Foreman) has also been employed with the company since 1981 and has installed about 50 million square feet of cementitious underlayments.
